After much demand, I’ve written up the iconic Hudson’s Bay Blanket pattern for you all to use! This is a very easy, mindless project that you don’t need to think too much about. Simply cast on and get knitting!
what you need:
Size 10.0 mm (US Size 15) cable needle with a 60 inch cable
Worsted weight Acrylic wool (6120 yards). I used Vanna’s Choice yarn from Lion Brand.
Mustard Blue: 4 skeins
Midnight Yellow: 4 skeins
Cranberry Red : 4 skeins
Sage Green : 4 skeins
Fisherman’s White : 20 skeins
The finished size is about 90 inches x 85 inches. It will fit a Queen sized bed.
what to do:
this blanket is knit with yarn held double for extra coziness
Cast on 180 stitches using white with yarn held double
Knit 20 rows in garter stitch (the entire blanket is knit in garter)
Switch to Blue, knit 14 rows.
Switch to White knit 14 rows- ensure you’re changing colours on the right side of your work.
Switch to Yellow, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 14 rows
Switch to Red, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 14 rows
Switch to Green, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 76 rows- sit back and knit a sea of white and work backwards in colour for the rest of the stripes.
Switch to Green, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 14 rows
Switch to Red, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 14 rows
Switch to Yellow knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 14 rows
Switch to Blue, knit 14 rows
Switch to White, knit 20 rows and cast off with the right side facing you.
Throw it on your bed or couch and cozy up!
